Kenworth Truck Co. has announced that the Bendix ABS-6 System is now standard on Kenworth Class 8 trucks with air brake systems. Kenworth says the robust design of the Bendix ABS-6 standard system improves serviceability and serves as a platform to introduce additional new features: For example, Kenworth now offers Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) as an option on selected Kenworth T600, T800 and W900 configurations.

“Kenworth continues to make available technology systems that may provide cost-effective solutions and benefits to customers,” says Mike Dozier, Kenworth chief engineer. “Now that the Bendix ABS-6 system is standard, Kenworth is able to offer ABS-6 Advanced with ESP as an option on selected Kenworth Class 8 tractors, such as fuel haulers.”

According to Bendix, key benefits of Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP include superior traction systems. The system is designed to help stabilize the vehicle during under- and over-steer driving situations and may assist in avoiding a potential rollover. Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP is designed to detect a vehicle’s impending loss of stability and automatically intervene by selectively applying tractor and trailer brakes, as well as by de-throttling the engine, helping to control the vehicle in a jackknife condition.
