General Freight Services has been named one of Atlanta’s 50 fastest-growing privately-held companies by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The publication ranked General Freight number 48 on the 11th annual Pacesetters Award, citing the company’s significant growth from 2003 through 2005.

General Freight is a third-party logistics company that provides customers with access to an 8,000-member network of over-the-road carriers, nationwide class I railroads and a mix of multimode transportation solutions serving Canada, the United States and Mexico. General Freight also provides international logistics services, including import/export, custom clearance and freight forwarding.

To be considered for the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s select group of Pacesetters, companies must be privately held, based in metro Atlanta, have 2005 revenues between $1 million and $300 million, and have a two-year growth in sales of more than 50 percent.

“We are pleased to be recognized for this award,” says Dan Smith, president and chief executive officer of General Freight. “Our business model continues to prove successful through varying market conditions, and we’re in a strong position to continue this positive growth. Our focus on hiring the most talented employees, as well as maintaining an aggressive marketing strategy, continues to support our growth and superior service to our customers.”
