Prime drivers compete for prizes at annual picnic

About 1,000 people attended the recent company picnic hosted by Prime Inc. at the company’s Springfield, Mo. headquarters. The event involved a truck driving championship and a Pride and Polish show. During the picnic, eight contestants placed in three divisions: Truck Driving, Best in Class, and People’s Choice.

  • The Best in Show winner was Glen Horack; he received a trophy and a year’s worth of free truck washes.
  • In the Truck Driving division, contestants were judged by their driving skills. Wim “Dutch” Depre won first place and was awarded a trophy and a set of Firestone steer tires. Second place went to Frank Prue, who won a trophy and a $150 gift card. Third place went to Carl Whitaker, who also won a trophy and a $150 gift card.
  • In the Best in Class division, contestants were judged on design, finish, cleanliness, mileage and overall appearance of their tractors. The prize for first place was a trophy, a $100 gift card and a year’s worth of free truck washes. Prue placed first in the Owner-Operator class, Duane Grimme placed first in the Lease class, and Dave and Vickie Weldon placed first in the Logistics class.
  • In the People’s Choice division, those attending the picnic voted by ballot for their favorite contestant. Fourteen trucks entered this division, and Horack took first place; he was awarded a trophy, a set of Goodyear steer tires and a year’s worth of free truck washes. All other entrants will receive five free truck washes: Bill Girdler, Chris Harris, Thomas Griswold, Thomas Moon, John French, Grimme, the Weldons, Prue, Jerome Lobo, Chris Laudenslager, Jason Rockey, Cindy Roberts and Randy Lacy.
