CFI announces Drivers of the Year for 2006

CFI, an international truckload carrier based in Joplin, Mo., has announced its 2006 Drivers of the Year. Each driver that was honored as a Driver of the Month during the year 2006 was an automatic nominee for Driver of the Year in his or her respective category.

A resolution from the Missouri State House of Representatives and a cash prize, among other prizes, were presented to each winner. The annual winners are as follows:

  • George Cook was named Company Driver of the Year. Cook uses the handle “Deacon” and joined CFI in 1986 and has driven more than 2.5 million miles. He lives in Arlington, Texas.
  • Marvin Peck was awarded the Contractor Driver of the Year. He lives in Bartlesville, Okla., and uses the handle “Giddy-Up-Go.” Peck joined the CFI team in 1984 and again in 2004. He has won this award for two consecutive years.
  • Larry Howell and Daia Elkins were named the Company Team of the Year. Larry began driving with CFI in 1991 and lives in Decatur, Texas. Daia joined in 2002 and resides in Granbury, Texas. They use the handles “Low Profile” and “Little Sister.”
  • William and Victoria Bumgardner were awarded the Contractor Team of the Year. William began driving with CFI in 1991, and Victoria joined in 2001. They use the handles “Grey Ghost” and “Lavender Blue” and live in Boerne, Texas.
