Cadec Global, a provider of advanced fleet management solutions, announced that Publix Super Markets has purchased and is implementing Cadec’s Mobius TTS On-Board Computers (OBCs) and on-premise software to extend its supply chain management efforts into the cabs of all 600-plus trucks in its private fleet.

“This is a major win for Cadec,” says Michael Baney, chief executive officer of Manchester, N.H.-based Cadec. “Publix is known for pushing the technology envelope, and their feedback and requirements are already helping to shape the future of Cadec’s solutions. We are very pleased to be working with them.”

Cadec says Publix will be able to tightly integrate Cadec’s OBCs with Publix’s other enterprise systems, and that the grocer also preferred an on-premise software rather than software hosted by a third party; Cadec provides both options. Cadec says it also offered advantages in terms of data collection and reporting.

“Cadec was able to provide all of the fleet management features and functionality we need in one package,” says Maria Brous, Publix’s director of media and community relations. “In addition, the fact that we could run Cadec onsite was a major factor in our decision.”
