Landstar System announced that effective immediately, Jim Handoush and Pat O’Malley have been named co-chief operating officers for the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company.

“Strategically, the changes further position Landstar to provide our customers with a unified approach to addressing their supply chain needs,” says Henry Gerkens, Landstar president and chief executive officer Henry Gerkens. “Jim and Pat are proven leaders and have each played an integral role in transforming the organization over the years. I believe the functional changes created by this new structure will enable the marketplace to properly identify Landstar as a ‘one-stop shop’ provider of transportation logistics services and solutions.”

In his new role, Handoush will have responsibility for Landstar’s newly-acquired supply chain transportation integration companies, Premier Logistics Inc. (Premier) and A3 Integration LLC (A3i); Landstar’s warehousing, intermodal and international service offerings; as well as national and international account development.

O’Malley will be responsible for Landstar’s field organization, agency and capacity development and all over-the-road operations, including the company’s truckload, less-than-truckload, specialized/heavy haul and expedited service offerings.

O’Malley joined Landstar in 1985 as an operations coordinator and has held various positions throughout his career, including director of fleet management, Landstar vice president of safety, Carrier Group executive vice president of operations and, most recently, president of the Landstar Carrier Group.
