The Michelin Man is flexing his green tire muscle this week at the Great American Truck Show in Dallas, where show attendees will be able to see 10 Michelin tires on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay-verified technologies list at GATS booth #13081.

Show attendees also can receive information on upcoming diesel emissions regulations, like those from the California Air Resources Board, that will affect the way they do business and what tires they use. Michelin says its booth representatives will be armed with information on the upcoming regulations and how Michelin tires on the SmartWay-verified technologies list can help them meet the regulations and save money on their fuel budget.

“For some time, Michelin has helped customers save money on fuel with green tire technology,” says Marc Laferriere, vice president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “Now that same technology will be instrumental in helping these companies meet upcoming regulations. We encourage those attending GATS to come by the booth and get information on how Michelin can help make this a green-green situation for them.”

Also starting this week, Michelin tires on the SmartWay-verified technologies list will be featured on a new green information section at www.michelintruck.com. The new section on the Michelin website will feature information on all 10 Michelin SmartWay-verified tires, and it also will have links to other important information and green sections on other websites, including numerous industry publications, SmartWay, American Trucking Associations, CARB and more.

“Many truckers may not be aware that they can buy wear-and-traction tires and not give up fuel-efficiency benefits,” Laferriere says. “Michelin is especially proud that we have a wear-and-traction tire on the SmartWay-verified list of fuel-efficient tires. With the Michelin X One XDN2 tire, trucks get the fuel efficiency of a SmartWay-verified tire, with the wear and traction levels they demand.”

Michelin says that of the 29 tires from six manufacturers on the SmartWay-verified technologies list, its tires account for more than 30 percent of the list with 10 tires, more than any other tire manufacturer.
