Tire-Track rolls out barcode label

Tire-Track says its CVL-2 is an all-rubber, machine-readable permanent serialized barcode label for tires that allows the user to track virtually every aspect of tire management to reduce tire costs, act as a theft deterrent and minimize substitution. The label, which has an eye-readable text line, produces more than 25 pounds of adhesion on the sidewall and survives the retread process, according to the company; the information is “cut” into the rubber itself so that it won’t rub off.

The application is designed to be used on both new and used tires, with its ultimate bond further improved with retreading. Tire-Track says the ID unit works seamlessly with most fleet maintenance or parts inventory hardware and software; demo kits, free samples and site testing are available.
