Menlo Worldwide Logistics, the global logistics subsidiary of Con-way Inc., announced the appointment of Anthony Gunn to the position of managing director, Europe. Based at Menlo’s European headquarters in Amsterdam, Gunn – a long-servicing Menlo executive – was promoted from his previous position of director, European Operations.

“I am pleased that we are able to call upon the experience and skills of Tony to head our operation in Europe and ensure a smooth transition for our customers in what is a challenging time for so many in light of the global economic situation,” says Todd Johnson, Menlo’s vice president of international operations. “He has the operational background in Menlo’s mix of pre- and post-manufacturing supply chain activities, as well as a deep working knowledge of the company’s pan-European and intercontinental management services.”

Gunn brings a wealth of logistics experience. This results from nearly a decade of senior management positions within Menlo’s European organization in addition to more than 20 years in the telecommunications and semiconductor sectors, where he had responsibility for purchasing, inventory management, material supply and product distribution.

Over the last two years in his previous position, Gunn has been responsible for a number of Menlo’s high-profile customer operations across various industry sectors. He has led in the development of various new logistics solutions for these accounts and was instrumental in establishing Menlo’s recent entry into the Czech market. In his new function, he will be responsible for Menlo’s strategic plan in Europe and will enhance his management team in accordance with this plan.
