Bison Transport employees recently participated in two separate events to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Bison’s team from Winnipeg, Manitoba, participated in the CancerCare Manitoba Challenge for Life 20K walk on Saturday, June 12, and the team from Bison’s office in Mississauga, Ontario, walked in the Canadian Cancer Society 12 hour Relay for Life on Friday, June 4. Combined, the two teams raised nearly $100,000.

Bison employees who were not walking were given the opportunity to participate in fund raising in other ways, including a public car wash, a Jeans Day, an employee silent auction and donations. In addition, Bison corporately donated $250 to each walker for signing up to participate in the events.

“Bison is proud to have taken part in such a worthy cause,” says Don Streuber, Bison president and chief executive officer. “Cancer affects us all. We have several members of the Bison Transport family who are battling various forms of this disease right now. As a large organization, taking an active role in these events was the right thing to do.”
