Con-way Freight announced it has released a free smartphone application for online shipping services, including shipment tracking, rate quotes and document viewing, all presented on a new website specifically designed for mobile devices. The Con-way Freight Tools app, available for iPhone and Android (BlackBerry coming soon) environments, allows customers to complete a variety of shipping tasks on their smartphones, including rate quotes, tracking a freight shipment, viewing shipping documents and locating a service center.
The mobile website is a simplified version of Con-way Freight’s commercial website, www.con-way.com/freight, with the mobile version optimized for quick uploading and seamless, responsive functionality on a smartphone. Simplified features on the mobile site allow customers to register as Web users, sign up for proactive alerts and other information, get news updates and more.
“We’re continually examining opportunities to make it easier for customers to do business with us, over whatever platform they find most convenient and efficient,” says John G. Labrie, president of Con-way Freight. “These new tools will be very useful to our customers on the go, putting accurate up-to-date information about their shipments and tools that help streamline the management of their shipping needs right in the palm of their hands.”
To get the Con-way Freight Tools app, a customer can download it directly from their phone’s app store. Once downloaded, they should go to the phone’s settings and enter their Con-way Freight Web-registered username and password; then they can launch the app. To access the company’s mobile website, they can enter www.con-way.com/freight in their smartphone’s Internet browser address window to be redirected.
