In honor of Veterans Day and to highlight the role that the transportation and logistics industry has in supporting national defense, Werner Enterprises will showcase its freight management services on Thursday, Nov. 11, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the company’s global headquarters. During the event, the company’s associates, who are veterans, will be honored alongside an International MaxxPro, Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) military vehicle, which is currently in use in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Derek Leathers, chief operating officer of Werner Enterprises and president of Werner Global Logistics, and Peter Chapman, Navistar Defense manager of manufacturing, will speak at 10:30 a.m. “Many people don’t realize the extensive role that the transportation and logistics industry plays in the support of our troops,” Leathers says. “The MaxxPro MRAP is an example of a final product that saves lives, and everyone at Werner is proud to be a part of the extended ‘Navistar family.’ ”

Werner Enterprises’ Freight Management Services is responsible for managing nearly every piece of material that is needed to construct and produce the vehicle at its assembly plant in West Point, Miss. Since February 2008 Werner Enterprises has been lead logistics provider for Navistar Defense, which has produced more than 7,500 MaxxPro vehicles.
