The American Trucking Associations recently congratulated Dr. Ron Knipling on receiving the Order of Merit, one of the highest recognitions given by the International Road Transport Union, a Geneva, Switzerland-based international organization representing highway users. Knipling is the author of “Safety for the Long Haul,” a comprehensive commercial vehicle safety book recently published by the ATA.
“This recognition by the IRU cements Dr. Knipling’s status, on an international level, as one of the foremost experts on commercial vehicle safety,” says Bill Graves, ATA president and chief executive officer. “We are proud to be associated with Dr. Knipling’s research and his work to continuously improve highway safety and build upon the impressive safety gains achieved by the U.S. trucking industry.”
“Safety for the Long Haul,” a 600-page publication, includes more than 100 specific topics relating to large truck crash risk, causation, counter-measures and safety management, and is written in a direct and informative manner to assist motor carriers in establishing and implementing practices that further the safety of highway operations.
