Comdata E1291391961766With a growing number of alternative fuels in the market today, Comdata Corp. says it plans to enhance its fleet card to control purchases for more than 75 different fuel types, including DEF, biodiesel and compressed gas. Previously the fleet card could process and report four types of fuel transactions: Diesel #1, Diesel #2, Reefer and “other fuel.”

The enhanced fuel purchasing feature will be available by the end of January 2011, says Cory Sickles, vice president of over-the-road product development for Brentwood, Tenn-based Comdata.

To help customers with daily route planning, Comdata also plans to introduce a fuel price index report called the Low Cost Network. Customers will be able to use the report to locate the lowest cost of fuel by region, by state and by interstate. The index report will show fuel price trends based on a monthly average. In the near future, customers will be able to customize the Low Cost Network report to include the price of fuel by factoring in their own negotiated discounts by location, Sickles says.
