Hub Group’s 4Q income up 26%

Hub Group Inc. on Thursday, Jan. 27, reported income of $13 million for the fourth quarter of 2010, an increase of 26 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2009. Revenue increased 18 percent to $480 million compared to $408 million.

Intermodal revenue increased 19 percent to $340 million, attributable to a 14 percent volume increase, a 4 percent increase for fuel and a 4 percent increase in pricing, partially offset by a 3 percent decrease for mix. Truck brokerage revenue was unchanged at $79 million. Unyson Logistics revenue increased 38 percent to $61 million.

Income for the year ended Dec. 31 was $43 million. “The fourth quarter was a solid finish to an outstanding year,” said David Yeager, chairman and chief executive officer of the Downers Grove, Ill.-based company. “For the year, we grew all three business lines, with our intermodal volume up 19 percent. Going into our 40th anniversary year, we are well positioned for continued growth.”
