The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has issued a direct final rule making adjustments to the definition of “gross combination weight rating” to read “Gross combination weight rating (GCWR) means the value specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of a combination motor vehicle.”

Interested parties have until Sept. 26 to comment. If FMCSA receives any negative comments, the agency must withdraw the direct final rule and initiate a formal rulemaking on the issue. If no negative comments are received, the change will be effective Oct. 26.
