The 68th Annual Meeting of the NationaLease organization of full-service truck leasing companies held in September at the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore featured T. Boone Pickens, oil and gas entrepreneur and advocate for domestic clean energy production, as the keynote speaker.

Pickens participated in a give-and-take conversation with Jane Clark, NationaLease vice president of member services, where he gave his opinions on the current political landscape as well as his thoughts about solutions to America’s energy dependence. The event also included an Industry Panel on issues facing the industry, addresses on the presidential election and educational sessions.

Other highlights included a presentation of the new NationaLease Website, a new campaign on improving reciprocal service and an introduction of new members. Tom James, president and chief executive officer of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association, outlined current issues facing the industry, while David Hames of Daimler Trucks North America shared facts and figures on current and future market conditions.

This year’s event also saluted the best of the NationaLease organization’s diesel technicians. Bob Mryzglod of Aim NationaLease, Girard, Ohio, was honored as the Top Tech, winning the award after a written and hands-on competition showcasing the skills of NationaLease diesel technicians throughout North America. Also saluted was Lacy Teague of Salem NationaLease, who won the NationaLease Top Sales Award for 2011.
