Blue Tree Systems, Inc. a provider of reefer monitoring, trailer tracking and in-cab fleet management systems, announced that RWI Transportation, a member company of the Castellini Group, has integrated the company’s R:COM Temperature Management system with TMW’s operating software to deliver live information from the reefer unit to front-line operations. Crucial data such as trailer location, reefer operating parameters, temperatures and door sensor data will be captured by R:COM and then made available in RWI’s TMW screen views in near real time.

By exploiting the flexibility in Blue Tree Systems’ R:COM  architecture, RWI’s IT staff is able to easily extract reefer operating data such as set-point, return air temperature, operating mode, and more, and populate screens in TMW so that their operations personnel have one, very complete view of their entire fleet.

“The option to leverage the comprehensive availability of data allows us to create an integration that is ideal to our operations at the lowest cost possible,” stated David Cook, IT director at RWI.

Among the architectural advantages leveraged by RWI is the ability to host the Blue Tree R:COM system in house. In a marketplace where so many vendors offer web-based systems only, which are subject to integration protocols under the control of the vendor, Blue Tree Systems says it is unique in providing a “customer hosted” option that provides database access, documentation and support when needed. In addition to integration flexibility, hosting the R:COM server behind its firewall, in its own data center, provides RWI with total control and command of its data.

The R:COM Temperature Management system provides live updates of refrigeration unit settings, operating mode, equipment alarm codes, fuel level and cargo temperatures. Temperature out of range conditions and refrigeration unit shut down alarms are immediately sent via email and SMS, while all detailed temperature location data, unit settings, door events and arrival/departure times are recorded in a 1-click printable format.
