KeHE Distributors signs contract with DriveCam

DriveCam, a global driver risk management company, announced that Illinois-based KeHE Distributors has signed a multi-year contract to roll out the DriveCam system to the vast majority of its fleet, including 12 distribution centers throughout the U.S.

As part of KeHE’s ongoing initiative to improve fleet operations, DriveCam’s services are being implemented to increase good driving behavior, identify and eliminate problem driving, and reduce risk.

“We are focused on continuous improvement in our fleet and driver safety levels, and in pursuit of this chose to implement the DriveCam solution over other vendors we were considering,” said Michael Connelly, KeHE Transportation safety director. “We simply felt that DriveCam has the resources to support us – in fact, the DriveCam solution is already up and running in a number of vehicles with great success. Our drivers are seeing more clearly where the risks are, as well as where they need improvement.”

“Like many transportation-based companies, KeHE was looking for better ways to manage its fleet’s risk and liabilities,” said DriveCam Business Line Director Adam McCarty. “DriveCam was able to meet KeHE’s unique requirements so that now they have the tools to exonerate their drivers who are not at fault, or resolve an at-fault case quickly. Proactively, DriveCam’s services are helping them to identify potential problem driving and provide immediate coaching to address it.”

DriveCam addresses safety by combining data and video analytics with real-time driver feedback and coaching. DriveCam accomplishes this using its Driver Science Engine. Through a patented, iterative process of scoring, prioritizing and tracking the results of driving behaviors, this model identifies behavioral improvement opportunities for increased safety. In-cab video captures driving behavior, which is objectively reviewed and scored, then passed on to the fleet for use in coaching drivers.

Fleets manage the DriveCam Program through DriveCam Online, a web-based online portal. Seamlessly integrated into DriveCam’s DC3 video event recorder and the DriveCam Online reporting solution, DriveCam’s fuel management combines real-time, in-cab feedback with online reporting and coaching to improve fuel efficiency – by up to 12 percent – and lower emissions by focusing on the three driving behaviors that have the greatest impact on fuel efficiency: efficient or “smooth” driving, idling and speeding.
