Descartes Systems Group announced that Werner Global Logistics U.S. (WGL), a subsidiary of Werner Enterprises, has implemented the Descartes OneView Customs House Broker system to run its U.S. customs house brokerage operations. The technology helps WGL streamline its customs house brokerage operations by using a single platform for customs brokerage services along with Advanced Manifest (AMS) and Importer Security Filing (ISF) filing services.

“To offer the high level of service that we provide to our customers and support the growth of our business, we needed a robust, scalable customs house brokerage solution that could be deployed quickly and integrate within Werner’s global TMS platform,” said Dave Brenneman, senior director of operations at WGL.  “Descartes’ team of customs experts were able to integrate the new system, provide training and help make us more productive and efficient within the first month.”

Descartes’ OneView Customs House Broker (CHB) software is an enterprise-class application with end-to-end capabilities to manage U.S. brokerage requirements, from entry preparation and filing through to accounting. It was developed with Message Queue (MQ) capabilities and a direct link to U.S. Customs and Border Protection so users can receive responses and customs status messages to manage by exception.

The application is template-driven to facilitate ease-of-use and leverage existing data, the company says. Information entered into Descartes’ security filing systems such as ISF and AMS also populate brokerage transactions in Descartes’ OneView CHB.
