Mike Baker joins SmartDrive as sales exec

SmartDrive Systems, a provider of driving performance systems to reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, announced that Michael “Mike” Baker has joined its management team as vice president of worldwide sales.  Baker is a telematics sales veteran with a track record of success in leading growth focused sales teams.

Mr. Baker brings 20 years of experience in the technology, trucking and construction industries to SmartDrive.  Baker will focus on developing customer acquisition and retention strategies, building and motivating high performance teams, and creating a global go-to-market sales organization..

“Fleets today are under significant pressure to improve safety while keeping costs under control,” said Baker.  “The SmartDrive platform is a game-changer and one of the more exciting and effective programs I have seen in over twenty years in the industry. Prior to SmartDrive, Baker led teams at Navman Wireless, Qualcomm Omnitracs and HighwayMaster. Baker has also held successful sales leadership roles with Saunders Cash Control, Trendar and Fleet Control Services American Express. He served in both the Tennessee Army National Guard and the United States Marine Corps Reserve and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
