Spireon, a provider of mobile resource management (MRM) and business intelligence systems, announced that Watkins & Shepard has upgraded its entire fleet with the latest version of the FleetLocate trailer management platform.

Watkins & Shepard specializes in truckload and less than load (LTL) trucking services, running through more than 20 hubs across the United States. The company was an early adopter of satellite trailer tracking services. When it came time to re-evaluate the technology, it switched to Spireon and is now rolling out the latest FleetLocate platform.

“We haul a lot of time sensitive commodities where we need full visibility,” said Walt Ainsworth, president & COO of Watkins & Shepard. “Spireon’s FleetLocate helps us to ensure the on-time arrival and security of these loads by providing real-time access to the location and status of trailers. I also judge a company by how they respond to requests. Spireon’s customer service is top notch. Staying with Spireon and adopting their new platform across our entire fleet was an easy decision.”

FleetLocate connects fleet managers to the rich GPS data, analytics and asset intelligence. According to the announcement, Watkins & Shepard has been able to improve asset utilization by better managing trailer pools, confirm pick-up and delivery locations and times, adjust trailer assignments on the fly as status changes, and maximize trailer advertising revenue by being able to show actual travel times and corridor routes of each trailer to confirm reach and frequency ROI for the advertiser.
