Renting a truck through Ryder has been made simpler through the implementation of new tablet apps for Ryder employees that the company says will streamline the truck rental process.
The new apps will allow for a paperless rental process that will make check-in and check-out faster and simpler, Ryder says. Customers will complete and sign all forms on an Android tablet, and Ryder employees will use the same tablet to take vehicle photos to document vehicle condition, as well as to confirm availability.
The company has also implemented a maintenance app to ensure that its rental fleet remains in optimal condition. It will help Ryder employees determine the cause of a vehicle’s problems, which will result in faster repairs as well as helping to identify proactive service actions to prevent future breakdowns.
Both apps were built on the Appian platform.
The technology investments follow Ryder’s recent launch of its rental reservation website that enables commercial customers to reserve trucks online at their negotiated rates.
The site also enables customers to manage their rental profiles, locate Ryder rental facilities, view available vehicles and modify or cancel truck reservations online.
