Among the most striking features on the ultra-aero International ProStar are chassis skirts that fully cover the drag wheels.International Truck announced that it has received an order for 1,050 new trucks from an unnamed North American fleet. The company also reports that the customer has indicated that it will order an additional 7,950 Trucks later this month. The three-year agreement is for International ProStar and LoneStar Class 8 tractors powered by Cummins ISX-15 engines.
The report is decidedly good news for International, which just last week received word that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency had filed a federal lawsuit alleging more than 7,000 heavy-duty diesel engines manufactured in 2009 and 2010 did not meet EPA’s 2010 Diesel Exhaust Emissions Regulations.
“Customers continue to recognize that the heavy-duty products we are building today are among the best we have built in decades, with uptime and fuel economy performance that leads the industry,” said Bill Kozek, president, Navistar Truck and Parts. “This customer has experienced our new products firsthand and their International models are leading the way in fuel economy performance when compared to competitive models.”
