CVSA transitions to new leadership team

Kansas Highway Patrol Capt. Christopher Turner has been named the new president of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance in the group’s leadership transition for the 2017-2018 term.

Turner has served in law enforcement for 20 years and manages the Kansas Highway Patrol’s Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP), motor carrier inspectors fixed and mobile weight enforcement and crash reconstruction teams.

Serving with Turner will be Capt. Scott Carnegie of the Mississippi Highway Patrol as CVSA’s vice president, and Sgt. John Samis of the Delaware State Police as the group’s secretary.

Carnegie has been with MHP for 24 years and is currently the director of the Motor Carrier Division. Samis also has 24 years of experience with the DSP and is currently the MCSAP supervisor of the state’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit.
