Milan raising driver pay for company drivers, owner-ops

Tennessee-based Milan Express (No. 235 on the CCJ Top 250) is increasing pay for its regional over-the-road and local drivers and independent contractors.

Effective Feb. 3, an experienced company driver will be paid between 44 and 53 cents per mile, resulting in annual earnings of from $66,560 to $78,260 based on 2,500 miles per week, the company says.

Company driver teams will make between 53.4 and 56.4 cents per mile with annual earnings of between $148,200 and $156,000 for 5,000 miles per week. In addition base pay per mile, Milan also offers up to 4 cents per mile in incentive bonus for safety, fuel efficiency and productivity.

Milan is also increasing pay for independent contractors, both owner-operators and lease purchase drivers. Owner-operators will make $1.11 per mile with fuel surcharge on loaded miles, for annual earnings of $183,300 for 2,500 miles per week. Lease purchase operators make $1.08 per mile with fuel surcharge on loaded miles for 2,500 miles per week, grossing $180,000.
