Thermo King announced new capabilities for its TracKing telematics platform.

The TracKing ConnectedSuite platform is installed at the factory on all Thermo King reefer units and collects and aggregates tracking, temperature and reefer data from mobile trailer and container assets. New features added to the platform will improve temperature management, food safety compliance and asset utilization, the company says.

On Aug. 26 at the McLeod Software user conference in Denver, Shilpa Anand, product manager of TracKing, said that approximately 35 percent of Thermo King’s customers are using the product. For customers that use a different telematics system, data from the factory-installed system can now be integrated with the telematics that fleets already use to eliminate the need to install separate devices.

This data sharing capability is called Connect & Share and can include sending two-way commands depending on the capabilities of the third-party system.

The system also integrates data with fleet management systems, such as McLeod LoadMaster, to provide users with cargo temperatures, trailer locations, refrigeration unit settings and alarms through the dispatch process from pickup through delivery. Through dispatch integration, users can remotely set reefer temperatures using the two-way command and control functions.

A new mobile application, TK Notify, provides notifications and a detailed view of the status of units. With the app, a fleet manager or driver sees a quick snapshot of the status of the unit when an event occurs. The information includes setpoint, return air, discharge air, sensor temperature door status, mode of operation and the location of the unit at the exact time a problem occurs.

The app also sends notifications when a unit requires maintenance. Managers can escalate events to drivers, service technicians or dealers — Thermo King has 187 dealer locations — to manage communications while a repair is underway.

TK Notify is free and available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store. For more information, visitwww.ThermoKing.com.
