Montgomery Transport assets up for auction

Tiger Group has announced the first auction in a series of liquidation sales of trucks, tractors and other assets formerly owned by Mongomery Transport, which closed suddenly this past fall.

Bidding is underway in the SoldTiger.com auction, which closes on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. Central. The assets are stored in Alabama, Indiana and Mississippi.

"Healthy operators in the U.S. transportation sector will find solid opportunities in this sale, including Peterbilt 579 premium sleeper truck tractors, all from 2019 or later," said Chad Farrell, Managing Director, Tiger Commercial & Industrial.

In addition to those Peterbilt 579s, the trucks and vehicles available at auction include:

  • (14) 53-foot flatbed trailers from Reitnouer and Fontaine (2011–2017)
  • 2017 Kenworth T680 sleeper truck/tractor
  • 2018 Chevy Silverado Z71 4Ă—4 pickup
  • 2017 Chevy Express passenger van
  • 2007 Chevy pickup trailers
  • Utility trailer and 48-foot reefer trailer

Bidders will also find material-handling shop equipment such as a Hyster 15,000-pound forklift; a Briggs & Stratton 100 KW generator (natural gas); shipping containers; air hydraulic axle jacks; a 12-ton shop press; a tire-inflation system; a refrigerated air dryer with drum pump and drain carts; an R-134A refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging machine; and a central pneumatic 30-gallon air compressor and receiver tank.

In addition, Montgomery Transport maintained a large selection of parts for maintenance and repair. The sale features new and used truck and tractor tires; a Sturdy-Lite headache rack; windshields; fuel tanks; axles; radiators; hubs; hoses; wheels; brackets; racks; tarps, and work gloves.

Finally, available office furniture, equipment and other assets include electronic standing desks, cubicles, chairs, conference rooms, reception and break rooms, lockers, laptops, monitors, phone systems and office supplies.

"Montgomery Transport had assets all over the Southeast and Midwest, and Tiger does anticipate conducting additional sales as part of this receiver-ordered liquidation. Interested bidders should stay tuned," Farrell said.

Pilot launches 2026 heart-health campaign

Truck stop chain Pilot is continuing its long-standing support of the American Heart Association and Heart & Stroke to support heart health education, research and prevention efforts across the U.S. and Canada.

From Jan. 30 through Feb. 22, Pilot is inviting guests to turn their stops into moments of impact, helping fund the fight against heart disease and stroke, the leading and fifth-leading causes of death in the United States.

In 2026, Pilot’s goal is to raise $1 million to directly fuel the mission of saving lives. Now in its ninth campaign year with the Heart Association, Pilot and its guests have raised a total of nearly $10 million.

Guests can visit participating Pilot, Flying J and One9 travel centers and take part in simple, meaningful actions that collectively make a life-saving difference:

  • Paper hearts and round up: Guests at U.S. locations can add a $1, $3 or $5 paper heart, or round up their in-store purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association’s Life is Why campaign. Guests at Canadian locations can round up their in-store purchases, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Heart & Stroke in Canada.
  • Donate in the app: For the first time, Pilot customers can now donate $1, $3 or $5 directly through the Pilot app when placing a mobile order.
  • Free coffee offer: To thank guests for their contributions, Pilot app users who join the "Heart Month Challenge" and purchase a paper heart in-store will receive an offer for a free coffee on their next visit.

Pilot’s support of the Heart Association is fueled by the company’s Miles of Good giving program.

Arizona expands rest area truck parking

The Arizona Department of Transportation has opened a new truck parking lot at the Sunset Point Rest Area as part of a statewide plan to add hundreds of truck parking spaces to meet the growing demand along interstates.

The new lot on I-17 between Black Canyon City and Cordes Junction features 19 spaces at a rest area where demand is high for truck parking, as the existing 27 spaces for commercial vehicles lot are often at or near capacity, ADOT said. The $4.1 million project also added waterless vaulted toilets and covered ramadas.

The lot was constructed with gravel supported with a grid, which costs about half as much as asphalt pavement. The surface is permeable, which maximizes the space available for parking because no water retention areas are needed, the agency added.

The expanded parking at Sunset Point is the result of an ADOT plan to construct several hundred truck parking spaces in seven rest area sites along interstates in areas with the greatest needs. Additional parking is expected to come online within the next year at four other rest areas:

  • I-40 Parks Rest Area: This formerly closed facility just west of Flagstaff will reopen in spring 2026 for truck parking only, adding 21 new spaces to the 18 existing spaces.
  • I-17 Christensen Rest Area: The existing 21 spaces at this formerly closed facility just south of Flagstaff will reopen in spring 2026 for truck parking only.
  • I-10 Burnt Wells Rest Area: This facility west of Phoenix will add 125 spaces in late 2026.
  • I-40 Meteor Crater Rest Area: This facility just west of Winslow will add 133 spaces in winter 2027.

The expansion plans are in addition to 57 new truck parking spaces ADOT opened in December at the Haviland Rest Area on I-40 west of Kingman.
