
Knight Transportation (CCJ Top 250, No. 3) has appointed Joe Vitiritto President, effective Feb. 2.
The move to Knight marks a homecoming for Vitiritto, an executive with more than two decades of experience in the logistics and trucking sectors. Vitiritto, rejoined the company in November 2025 as Executive Vice President of Operations Support. His career includes a 17-year tenure with Knight and Swift from 2003 to 2020, during which he climbed the ranks through various operational leadership positions.
Before returning to the Knight family, Vitiritto served as President and CEO of P.A.M. Transport (No. 55) starting in 2020. He resigned mid-last year.
During his time there, he was credited with steering the company through major organizational shifts and operational refinements. This external leadership experience, combined with his internal knowledge of Knight’s complex network, is seen as a strategic win for the company.
"Joe’s experience leading through change, while maintaining a strong operational foundation, positions him well to guide Knight into its next chapter," the company stated in its official announcement.
Strategic Priorities
An Iowa State University alumnus with a degree in marketing, Vitiritto is known for a leadership philosophy centered on accountability and collaboration. As he steps into the presidency, his mandate focuses on three core pillars:
- Profitable growth: Scaling operations while maintaining healthy margins.
- Operational alignment: Ensuring terminals and departments work in lockstep to benefit drivers and customers.
- Cost discipline: Maintaining an intense focus on efficiency and safety.
