Orbcomm releases analytics service for IoT portfolio

Assets On A Map 2016 10 13 12 27Orbcomm, a provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of things (IoT) systems, has released a new cloud-based analytics service that leverages its product portfolio for fleet customers to have more insights into their operations.

The new analytics offering extracts real-time telematics information from asset-based data to determine patterns and predict future outcomes and trends, the company says.

Orbcomm’s analytics service is focused on the transportation & logistics, supply chainand heavy equipment markets.

Through the new offering, Orbcomm says it will deliver analytics services cost-effectively and at high speed. The company has identified opportunities to use the analytics service to provide industry benchmark comparisons and statistical applications applied to machine, logistical and conditional behaviors.

Customer use case examples include refrigerated transport, operational performance, operational cycle and dwell time management, condition delivery management, fleet driver performance, predictive machine breakdown and shutdown, preventative maintenance planning, and business optimization.

“By responding to customer demand for more sophisticated business intelligence applications, Orbcomm has launched a comprehensive analytics platform that can transform asset data into usable, ROI-driven information to help customers improve performance and efficiency and make better business decisions,” said Marc Eisenberg, chief executive officer.

Orbcomm has licensed its core technology and hired a team of industry experts to launch and distribute its data analytics service, which is now commercially available.
