Cobra Electronics introduced a new dashcam offering this week at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

The Drive HD CDR 875 G is an upgrade from older Cobra dashcam models because the GPS is internally built-in, allowing drivers to receive updates from other drivers on road conditions. The road-facing camera is full 1080P high definition and provides a 160-degree viewing angle.

Older models of Cobra’s dashcams linked to drivers’ smartphones via bluetooth to link to the phone’s GPS capabilities. Cobra Senior Director Chris Kooistra added the new model offers a unique “parking mode.”

“Parking mode is a motion sensor that is enabled when the truck is parked,” he said. “It’s an added security feature that captures movement in the viewing eye of the camera.”

The camera also features a G-Sensor, which triggers the unit to automatically and permanently protect clips if an impact is detected.

The MSRP for the new camera is $199, but it can often be found for $179, according to Kooistra.
