00:00 In this week’s CCJ Tech Shorts, we’ll take a look at a new yard management system, a fleet performance management provider’s use of AI, fraud prevention and more.
00:24 GoRamp, a provider of supply chain management software solutions, has launched a new product that aims to solve common yard inefficiencies, eliminate paperwork and optimize yard resources.
Its new yard management system, called GoRamp YMS, addresses three main challenges: missing paperwork, over and underbooking assets and incomplete tasks and delays. The YMS eliminates incomplete tasks and delays by providing a streamlined communication channel that automatically assigns tasks with clear instructions to the right person and allows for real-time monitoring of progress. To prevent missing paperwork like bills of lading and invoices, the YMS provides an intuitive interface that displays a dynamic yard map and an up-to-the-minute schedule. And to mitigate over and underbooking, which can lead to bottlenecks, wasted time and increased costs, the YMS offers real-time visibility on every trailer and dock and allows for monitoring of parking spaces, gates and docks without the footwork.
Some of the main features include:
• A drag-and-drop interface for digital yard management
• A yard map with an eagle-eye view for real-time visibility over yard assets.
• A digital scheduling calendar to optimize truck arrivals for loading and unloading, minimizing wait times and increasing yard throughput.
• An automated task-assigning system to save multiple phone calls and emails.
• Parking management
• Asset location tracking and more
01:54 Global fleet performance management provider EROAD plans to begin developing new products and features using Microsoft’s generative AI as part of its growth strategy, which involves the North American market.
EROAD said it will use Microsoft’s AI to assist further development of CoreTemp, the company’s predictive analytics software for refrigerated vehicles and trailers. This is to facilitate a swifter and more extensive integration of EROAD's solution into the expansive reefer market, consisting of 400,000-plus trailers in North America alone.
EROAD will deliver AI-powered tools such as:
Dashboards that can generate customized, interactive reports and insights based on user preferences and feedback; voice assistants that provide hands-free and conversational access to EROAD's products and services, such as navigation, alerts and analytics; and image recognition that detects and classifies objects and events from the cameras installed on the vehicles, such as traffic signs, road conditions and accidents.
The company recently ran an AI Innovation event with Microsoft, where teams of developers, data scientists and user experience specialists developed projects using Microsoft Azure and AI services, resulting in two projects that aim to bring significant benefits to EROAD and its customers by mid 2024.
Examples of the early benefits of the collaboration include AI Digital Advisor, which leverages generative AI to act as a strategic consultant for fleet operations. By analyzing telematics data, it optimizes asset load balancing and driver efficiency. Going beyond mere suggestions, it provides interactive graphical representations and prompts. Such visual aids will seamlessly integrate into EROAD's user interface, designed to enable customers to intuitively explore actionable insights and receive guidance on enhancing operational efficiency.
Complementing the Digital AI Advisor is a refined interactive model focused on predictive maintenance and management of reefer operations. This system will use AI to identify patterns and anomalies that can predict maintenance issues before they become critical. It goes a step farther by scrutinizing reefer conditions, preempting shutdowns and suggesting corrective actions to maintain optimal operations.
02:52 Freight marketplace Truckstop has introduced a new feature on its Truckstop Go mobile app.
The app now offers load alert notifications, giving carriers and brokers access to legitimate freight and trusted capacity more quickly and at scale. Load alert notifications deliver the freshest, high-paying loads that match the carriers’ preferences right to their phone when loads go live in the marketplace, whether they’re in the app or not. Users' specified preferences dictate the relevance of the new load opportunities, requiring them to evaluate each load's suitability and then proceed with the booking process.
While a feature for carriers, load alert notifications also provide value to Truckstop’s broker customers by increasing the speed to source a legitimate, quality truck and expanding their reach and opportunity to build capacity and buying power.
This feature is exclusively available to customers with a Load Board Pro subscription.
05:16 Mudflap, a mobile payments provider and fuel discount network for the trucking industry, has partnered with Incognia, a software company that provides location identity solutions.
Mudflap will leverage Incognia’s real-time fraud prevention technology to detect behavioral anomalies across its mobile payments solutions to increase security.
“Smaller trucking companies deserve the peace of mind that comes with knowing their payment platform has top-notch security in place,” said Mudflap Co-founder and Head of Product Sharon Yapp.
Incognia's risk assessments and analytics evaluate device integrity and flag risky behavior and devices. Using precise location data, Incognia can quickly identify compromised devices using emulators, root access and GPS spoofing to ensure the integrity of Mudflap’s payment experience.
