Blue1USA and Carboline Coatings Co. announced an epoxy liner product for carbon-steel storage tanks that is compatible with diesel exhaust fluid. The company says the Plasite liner meets ISO 22241-1 standards and will give selective catalytic reduction fleet owners, retail customers and tank car companies an economical solution for the bulk storage and transport of DEF.

“Customers have been asking us for a long-term economical solution for the bulk storage of DEF,” says Charles Culverhouse, Blue1USA’s sales and marketing manager. “It is the ideal solution for underground storage tanks since the temperature concerns of the product have been virtually eliminated. And it is certainly much more cost-effective than stainless-steel tanks. This exclusive proprietary liner is the perfect solution for those customers who will be purchasing, storing or transporting DEF in bulk.”

Andy Williams, national account representative for Carboline, says the Plasite liner solution is suitable for steel, aluminum and fiberglass substrates. “We are pleased to be partnering with Blue1USA and honored to be chosen as their supplier of choice,” Williams says.

ISO 22241-3 states that carbon steel is not compatible with DEF, but Blue1USA certifies that when a steel tank is lined properly with this proprietary liner, the DEF will continue to meet ISO 22241 specifications.
