TMW Systems Inc., a provider of enterprise transportation software for the logistics and trucking industries, announced that Salson Logistics has adopted three TMW Optimization Software modules. Already using TMWSuite software for their operations, Salson now will add integrated IDSC Netwise, IDSC TripAlert and IDSC ExpertFuel solutions to help improve their freight network productivity and efficiency, lower operating costs and enhance customer service.

Salson Logistics, based in Newark, N.J., is part of a family of four integrated operating companies that provide comprehensive and flexible supply chain management solutions. Along with the truckload and dedicated operations, its companies include Salson Xpress, a northeast less-than-truckload carrier; Salson Trucking, a container freight station; and Salson West, a container freight specialist.

“In the past year, we have doubled the size of our over-the-road fleet and increased revenues by 30 percent,” says Travis Smith, executive vice president at Salson. “My experience with TMW Optimization products in the past proved that these solutions will allow us to better analyze our customer base, better balance our network and improve service for our customers. By automating our business systems that impact service, we will be more proactive and drive down costs by enhancing network efficiency.”

Initially, Salson will activate IDSC Netwise with its TMWSuite enterprise system. The Netwise software engine is designed to produce profitable load scenarios based on information from the carrier’s dispatch database, and to help develop lanes that increase revenue and cut empty mileage.

Salson also is adopting IDSC TripAlert software. The real-time asset tracking solution is designed to produce the most efficient route, monitor the vehicle continuously to determine if it goes out-of-route and provide alerts based on predetermined exceptions. “By providing early notification, this software will make sure our vehicles are on schedule and not in jeopardy of missing a delivery appointment,” Smith says.

Salson also will be using IDSC ExpertFuel with its TMWSuite enterprise management system. The solution is designed to automatically generate an optimal route and a specific plan for fueling, including the location and amount of fuel to purchase at each stop to reduce costs. Fuel plans are generated by IDSC ExpertFuel to take into account current fuel prices, fuel level, vehicle fuel consumption, state tax implications, fuel network implications, out-of-route miles, route policies, terminal fueling policies, tank fill policies and driver amenities.

“With their phenomenal growth, Salson has taken the next logical step in adopting TMW Optimization software to further increase revenue and enhance profitability by systematically decreasing costs,” says Mike August, vice president and general manager at TMW. “We’ve had a strong relationship with Travis Smith for over 10 years and are proud of his experience with our software. Salson’s recent decision to adopt TMW Optimization software reinforces the business value these solutions continue to offer for trucking companies, especially during these turbulent economic times. We look forward to working with Salson to help them achieve their goals.”
