Skybitz, a provider of remote asset tracking and information management solutions, announced a partnership with McLeod Software, a provider of transportation management software, that will add new features into McLeod Software’s transportation management software, allowing its customers to benefit from real-time information on their trailers.

The companies say the technology integration provides McLeod Software users a single access point to gain operations and dispatch system decision-enabling information with feature-enriched trailer status. SkyBitz provides event-driven data such as whether cargo is loaded or unloaded inside a trailer, if the trailer door has been opened or closed, the location of trailers and if a trailer is in motion or stationary, among many other features.

“The integration of SkyBitz information into McLeod Software’s platform was a logical step for us,” says Siamak Azmoudeh, senior vice president of product line management for SkyBitz.

“By uniting the strengths of both companies, this offering further simplifies the process for our transportation industry customers to manage their fleets,” says Tom McLeod, chief executive officer of McLeod Software. “Our customers now can leverage all the benefits SkyBitz has to offer, such as improved security measures, increased efficiencies, better utilization and better customer service.”

The new software integration will be included in the McLeod Software Winter 2011 Release, slated for the first quarter of 2011. After the integration, trailer status information will be available through McLeod’s LoadMaster user interface, where it appears alongside other critical load, driver and route information.
