Con-way Freight has awarded professional driver Carl Krites – who recently was named National Truck Driving Grand Champion at the annual American Trucking Associations event – with a new 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck, a cash prize and exclusive use of a tricked-out 2010 Freightliner Cascadia tractor with a Detroit Diesel DD13 engine.

“It was so overwhelming to win the title, and to receive the Freightliner Cascadia is icing on the cake,” says Krites, a 31-year driving veteran and 12-year company employee from Wapakoneta, Ohio. The Cascadia features custom decals heralding Krites’ championship, heated admiral seats with built-in massagers donated by Commercial Vehicle Group, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, power windows and more.

“Carl exemplifies our commitment to safety, and it’s not an accident that yet another Con-way Freight driver took home the title,” says Bob Petrancosta, vice president of safety for the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based less-than-truckload company, whose drivers have earned the top prize three of the last four years.
