Derek Leathers, chief operating officer of Werner Enterprises and president of Werner Global Logistics, recently was in China where he reviewed Werner’s domestic transportation operations in the country. During his time in China, Leathers took part in two events.

On Thursday, March 31, Leathers spoke at an event sponsored by the AmCham Shanghai’s Logistics and Transportation Committee. As the keynote speaker, he updated business leaders, government officials and industry representatives on the current state of the U.S. transportation market and its impact on international shippers. Key issues addressed included the U.S. transportation economic supply and demand factors, the health and competitive environment of the U.S. trucking and rail industries, transportation rates, regulatory challenges and sustainability initiatives.

Leathers also attended Werner Global Logistics’ five-year anniversary celebration on Friday, April 1, at the company’s Shanghai office.
