Ryder System, a provider of commercial transportation and supply chain management solutions, announced that it has joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Veterans Employment Advisory Council, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to hiring U.S. military veterans.

The council has been established as part of the U. S. Chamber’s Hiring Our Heroes program, an initiative focused on enhancing collaboration between the public and private sectors to improve career opportunities for veterans.

In addition, Ryder’s Charitable Foundation has awarded a grant to VeteransPlus, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit financial education company headquartered in Clearwater, Fla., to support the development and launch of the new online Yellow Ribbon Registry Network, the nation’s first centralized online resource and clearinghouse where service members and veterans can fill out just one request for assistance and have their application quickly validated and submitted to multiple nonprofit funding partners through the network for response to their critical needs.

The site also allows individual citizens to provide donations to directly assist service members, veterans and military families in need.
