Public hearings set for proposed 2017 and later light-duty GHG, CAFE standards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are announcing public hearings to be held for the joint proposed rules for 2017 and later model year light-duty vehicle greenhouse gas emissions and corporate average fuel economy standards published in the Federal Register on Dec. 1. The agencies also will accept comment on NHTSA’s draft environmental impact statement available at www.nhtsa.gov/fuel-economy.

Three hearings will be held: Jan. 17, 2012, in Detroit at the Courtyard Detroit Downtown,
333 E. Jefferson Ave.; Jan. 19, 2012, in Philadelphia at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown, 1800 Market St.; and Jan. 24, 2012, in San Francisco at the Hyatt at Fisherman’s Wharf, 555 N. Point St. The hearings will start at 10 a.m. local time and continue until 5 p.m. or until everyone has had a chance to speak.
