Getloaded employees recently helped homeless individuals in Virginia find the services they need through Project Homeless Connect, a Richmond-based program that invites thousands of chronically homeless adults to the Greater Richmond Convention Center to access resources many people take for granted, including health care, dental and vision services, mental health screenings, employment resources and guidance, and Social Security applications.

“Getloaded serves the trucking industry nationwide as a freight matching company, but we are equally committed to supporting our local community in central Virginia,” says Fergus Caldicott, general manager at Getloaded. “Our employees want to participate in Project Homeless Connect to help ensure our fellow citizens have the resources they need for more productive, fulfilling lives.”

Getloaded volunteers served as navigators, helping participants complete a survey to find which services they needed most and then accompanied them as they visited each of the providers. Each volunteer was responsible for ensuring the individuals felt comfortable with the process and received the services that would best support them.
