Freightliner 114sdFreightliner this week is showcasing at the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas its first concrete mixer powered by a compressed natural gas engine.

The 114SD CNG mixer has under the hood the Cummins-Westport ISL G natural gas engine, which, Freightliner says, “is designed for superior fuel economy, performance and dependability with near-zero emissions.”

The truck is built off of Freightliner’s severe-duty platform and is available with a wide range of rear suspension and frame options.

“The combination of our severe duty concrete mixer with natural gas technology is the ideal blend of power, performance and efficiency,” said Robert Carrick, manager of natural gas sales for Freightliner. “We are providing the mixer market with another solution for customers seeking an economical way to reduce emissions and fuel costs.”
