Detroit Diesel Corporation (Detroit) today announced that it has built its 500,000th Detroit Steer Axle.

Produced at Detroit’s manufacturing facility in Redford, Mich., Detroit axles are available in a wide range of configuration options and are compatible with all braking systems offered by Daimler Trucks, covering every trucking segment.

The product line includes steer axles with weight ratings up to 20,000 pounds, rear axles with weight ratings up to 23,000 pounds, and tandem rear axles with weight ratings up to 46,000 pounds. Every Detroit axle is produced with a lightweight, efficient design engineered to provide higher payload, increased fuel economy and enhanced freight efficiency.

Detroit axles are a key component of the overall Detroit powertrain offering, which includes Detroit engines and the Detroit DT12™ Automated Manual Transmission.

“The Detroit powertrain provides the quality engineering, durability and performance enhancements that our customers expect,” said Brad Williamson, manager, engine and component marketing for Daimler Trucks North America. “We’re proud of reaching this milestone, and we’re even prouder to continue helping our customers achieve a lower total cost of ownership by producing the highest-quality axle every time.”
