Cooper Tire Roadmaster RM272

Roadmaster, a division of Cooper Tire, released its new RM272 tire at TMC’s Annual Meeting in Nashville. drop-deck trailers. The new tire features a new tread design and compounding that provides improved treadwear and protection against cutting and chipping. With 16/32-inch tread depth, it’s available in size 255/70R22.5 in load range H.

Featuring a four-belt steel casing, the RM272 has a slightly rounded tread footprint, along with a reinforced shoulder, to help withstand extreme side forces.

The Roadmaster RM272 was also designed to ward off irregular wear and damage due to curbing. Thanks to the tire’s rounded footprint, pressure distribution is optimized along all the ribs, which helps prevent premature wear on the intermediate ribs. What’s more, the tire is tough enough to withstand the impacts that come with riding up and over curbs.

In other Roadmaster news, national truck tire sales manager Bill Hoban said the company is in the final stages of expanding its national fleet accounts business outreach. Citing recent surveys conducted by Tire Review, Hoban noted high Roadmaster tire scores in several customer satisfaction surveys — notably a third place ranking in the Product Quality category and a second place ranking on warranty adjustment performance and a first place slot in the Order Fulfillment category.

Hoban says Roadmaster has been flying under Fleets’ radar for several years, but word on the tires’ quality has been slowly getting out. Building on this momentum, Hoban says Roadmaster will soon announce a comprehensive national fleet accounts program with 24/7 roadside repair support. “We feel our value proposition is very good,” he added. “Our main push over the next few months will be to get tires into fleet hands so they can evaluate them and judge our quality for themselves.”
