Midtronics, Sunday at the Technology and Maintenance Council Annual Meeting in Atlanta, announced its DSS- 5000 HD Battery Diagnostic Service System is now available for the commercial truck and fleet applications.
The Midtronics HD tester also supports The Technology & Maintenance Council Recommended Practice RP 129 for electrical system diagnostics.
The three-piece design DSS-5000 HD supports diagnostics for conventional lead-acid, AGM, EFB, and Pure Lead batteries.Other pre-programmed service apps include Pack and Cable Drop testing procedures that make testing more intuitive and less prone to error.
The DSS-5000 HD can detect and flag reserve capacity issues caused by added electronic components and accessories in today’s commercial vehicles and the demands they place on the reserve capacity of batteries.
A.J. Palmisano, Midtronics’ global business manager of truck products said the Android-based apps make the testing process “intuitive and easy to follow,” and the ability to e-mail test results and send those results to an optional cloud-based Battery Management Information System (BMIS) can reduce errors from manually recording test results.
The three-piece design DSS-5000 HD supports diagnostics for conventional lead-acid, AGM, EFB, and Pure Lead batteries and includes a controller with 5-inch full-color touchscreen display, tester pod, and charging/storage dock. Integrated printer and amp clamp are optional. Built-in Wi-Fi hardware supports flexible networking capabilities such as printing, sending data, and software updates.
With the addition of BMIS (Battery Management Information System) the DSS-5000 HD can receive software updates over-the-air and perform them unattended.
