Bay & Bay CEO Anderson dies at 62

Bay & Bay Transportation announced the unexpected death of its chief executive officer, Dave Anderson, who passed away suddenly on Dec. 4, 2009, at the age of 62. Dave and his wife, Lois, purchased Bay & Bay Transfer Co. in 1988. Their son, Sam Anderson, has been president of the Minneapolis-based company since 2005.

Dave entered the trucking industry as a diesel mechanic for Ziegler’s in Bloomington, Minn., and later for Mitchell Transport in Savage, Minn. In 1982, Dave and his wife started Anderson Diesel Truck Service Inc., and in 1988, they bought Bay & Bay. Over the next 15 years, they were involved in the startup of Anderson Leasing, Starr Ltd., Fleet Development and Fleet Parking & Logistics, and the purchase of D&T Trucking in 2007. In 2004, Dave and Lois received the prestigious award for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Master Category (a statewide award). Dave was on the board for Dakota Vocational Technical Institute of Entrepreneurs.
