Firestone donates $3,000 to Akron-Canton Foodbank

Updated Jul 24, 2013

Bridgestone Commercial Solutions’ Firestone Drives America Tour launched at the Akron Aeros game on July 16. The tour is traveling the country raising awareness about Firestone products while helping local charities. Bridgestone donated Firestone eco-Product tires to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for their mobile food collection truck and presented the organization with a $3,000 contribution during the game, which included money raised by Bridgestone teammates from the Akron area.

“The Firestone Drives America Tour kick-off event at the Akron Aeros game was a great success,” said Matthew Stevenson, Vice President of Marketing, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions. “We had a great turn-out; many enjoyed the tour activities and fireworks after the game. We’re honored to support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and their mission to provide food to those in need.”

Akron was the first stop on the Firestone Drives America Promotional Tour. Locals came out in strong numbers to support, engage, and learn about the latest Firestone-brand tires– the FS591 steer, FD691 drive, and FT491 all-position radials– while also serving the community.

The Firestone Drives America tour truck provided attendees with the opportunity to see the special Firestone Edition Class 8 truck to be given away in the Drive a Firestone Sweepstakes, as well as the innovation behind and performance benefits of the company’s new line of Firestone eco-Products. The tour is part of the “Those With Drive, Drive a Firestone” campaign, which will stop at select Minor League Baseball games this summer and NCAA College Football venues this fall. The tour hosts a variety of fun activities celebrating the Firestone history and brand as one of the leading US manufacturers and distributors of commercial truck tires.
