FMCSA committee to meet to talk inclusions for next highway funding bill
FMCSA’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee will hold a meeting open to the public Feb. 10-11 in Alexandria, Va., to discuss what agenda items FMCSA should push to include in Congress’ next highway funding law. Its CSA subcommittee will also meet that week.

Truck orders up 17 percent in December, up 50 percent year over year
Class 8 orders in December hit their highest point since March 2006 en route to a 50 percent year over year gain and a 50 percent gain over November, according to preliminary data released last week by ACT Research. Trailer orders fell in 2013 by 2 percent.

Diesel price rises 3.1 cents, continues to bounce
The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel rose in the week ended Jan. 27 3.1 cents to $3.904, climbing after two weeks of price drops, according to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.

ATA announced it has reorganized, placing all of the trucking lobbying group’s functions under three branches: National Advocacy, Communications and Public Affairs and Finance and Operations. ATA’s president Bill Graves said the reorg will make the lobbying group ‘more agile and responsive’ to industry changes.

Teamsters approve YRC deal in ‘difficult vote’
Teamsters working for LTL giant YRC Worldwide Inc. have approved a tentative agreement aimed at protecting more than 30,000 jobs, but leadership promises to hold the struggling company’s “feet to the fire” in moving forward, the union said Sunday.
