Trinetra Guard unveils connected trailer security, automated landing gear

Trinetra Guard showcased a new connected trailer technology that combines electronic security authorization with automated landing gear Sunday at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition.

"The industry has invested heavily in knowing where a trailer is," said Ratan Baid, CEO of Trinetra Guard. "We believe the next step is giving authorized operators meaningful control over whether a trailer can be moved, while also automating one of the most repetitive physical tasks drivers perform."

How it works

The EM6000Auto platform, a labor of roughly three years, Baid said, is engineered to address two pain points: Unauthorized trailer movement and the physical strain of manual cranking.

  • Authorization and security: Trailers can be stolen in under a minute, Baid said. The system restricts unauthorized movement while a trailer is secured using electronic authorization and locking controls on the landing gear. Depending on the configuration, supported access methods can include mobile applications, keypad codes, Bluetooth or trusted-tractor recognition, RFID, and portal authorization. Baid noted that the system is not designed to stop a trailer that is already in motion.

  • Automated landing gear: Motorized extension and retraction are built to handle routine drop-and-hook operations, replacing manual cranking. The engineering features controlled speed and torque tailored to different landing-gear.

  • Connectivity: Depending on device configuration, the platform supports connected fleet oversight features such as GPS, geofencing, and tamper or sensor notifications.

"With this technology, the trailer is going to protect itself," Baid noted.

Trinetra Guard is currently engaging prospective pilot customers, including trailer manufacturers and leasing agencies, and assessing production readiness. Baid expects to open up for orders early next year.
