The Latitude 2018 business conference, an annual event organized by telematics provider Verizon Connect in Dana Point, Calif., Oct. 22-24, featured speakers and panelists from high-profile fleets.

One fleet executive who shared experiences and insights was Joe Bennett, senior director of delivery for Sysco, a global foodservice provider.

The publicly traded company has a market cap of over $36 billion and does business in 90 countries. Sysco operates one of the largest fleets in the United States with more than 9,000 tractors that deliver food and non-food products daily to restaurants and other businesses.

Bennett oversees efforts at Sysco’s delivery fleet to increase customer service and reduce delivery expense in an ever-changing environment. The fleet uses integrated cloud-based telematics, routing and compliance applications from Verizon Connect.

At this year’s Verizon Latitude conference, Bennett participated in a panel where he shared a few strategies that have led to significant reductions in cost while increasing customer service, driver safety and productivity.
