Ward Truckload Express of Altoona, Pa., has implemented Transflo Express truck stop scanning from Pegasus TransTech to speed billing, reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and meet shipper demand for quick receipt of POD (Proof of Delivery).

Pegasus TransTech is a provider of truck stop scanning, in-cab scanning, smart-phone scanning, and other document management services.

Ward Truckload Express is a division of Ward Transportation & Logistics, which was founded in 1931, and now operates a fleet of 500 trucks, mostly in the northeastern U.S. Ward’s truckload operation launched in 1981 and operates approximately 100 units.

According to Gary Ernest, director of truckload operations, Ward began using Transflo Express in January. Before then, he said, drivers were mailing in their documents weekly.

“Some of our newer customers require a POD within five or six days. It’s part of the metric. You have to have PODs there by a certain time and they judge you on it. Using the mail, we couldn’t do that. Now we can,” Ernest said.

In addition to satisfying a customer requirement, Ward Truckload says it was able to improve productivity in other areas, including man-hours saved on sorting and scanning.
